i hate when people who do things like. historical shoe design. and knitting pattern design. to name two utterly random examples. say they're being gender inclusive in their designs and then do stuff like. make the mens' shoes available on a women's last [including giving the styles different names] and suuure, the womens' sizes go from a 5-12, but the men's go from a 6-15....and there's none of the feminine designs in the men's section and the sections are still marked "men's" and "women's" despite a whole gender inclusiveness post ages ago. the point about the lasts is that the men's and women's designs are based on different proportional shapes, meaning that they're not actually a crossgender design.
or they might do things like call a pattern gender inclusive and then say that they've made a "men's version" and a "women's version" - wait, no, sorry, that one version accords with "standard women's size charts" and the other accords with "standard men's size charts". and then show a picture of a woman in the strappy little coord shrug and cami set view and a man in the pullover view.
none of this is inclusive!!! none of this is trans friendly!!!!!!!
#oh it makes me so fucking angry#the shoe thing is one thing bc the main designer is very well-meaning but clueless cis woman#the knitting designer thing i am SO mad about because they're nonbinary!!! or at least a multiple pronoun haver idk what their terms are#but the write up for this design just sounds so motherfucking clueless#and i've been thinking about trans inclusive pattern design for days#can you actually choose shoulder width as relative to chest width and cup size or is it just time to misgender yourself#and if you CAN choose#make it fucking clear!!!!
